English (US)   Separate your registrar, your domain and web hosting providers  -  Categories: Web Design  -  @ 08:13:30 pm

InternetFor technical reasons, we have decided a few days ago to change our web hosting provider. Our former provider was doing all the job.

This time we have decided to clearly separate the several services using several providers:

There are several benefits to separate these services:

  1. each provider is (supposed to be) a maven in his job

  2. you can often benefit of lower prices using this method

  3. changing a provider is less a problem

The last point deserves some explanations. If I want to change the web hosting provider, I only have to change some parameter, usually using a web interface from the domain service provider. It's really easy.

The only drawback is that you have several companies with several bills, several contacts and so on.

For us, we have decided to use the same provider for the registration handling and for the domain name service. It's the famous dyndns. For the web hosting, we have choose textdrive. But this is another story I must tell in another blog note...
